The Holistic Advantage
Why choose holistic dentistry?
The focus of biological (holistic) dentistry is to treat oral health issues based on a whole body approach. We, as biologic dentists advocate for minimally invasive procedures and focus on the prevention of oral health problems rather than just addressing once they occur. We focus on identifying risk factors and deploy conservative approaches to treat the issue before it becomes a bigger problem.
What is the difference between a traditional dentist and a biologic dentist?
A biological dentist, like a traditional dentist, holds a DDS or DMD degree and provides standard dental services such as cleanings, fillings, and periodontal treatment. However, the key difference is in our treatment approach. Instead of just addressing symptoms, biological dentists focus on uncovering the root cause of dental issues, considering factors like airway, diet, sleep, exercise, and medical history. We also prioritize using natural, non-toxic, and biocompatible materials in their treatments.

Mercury and Fluoride FREE
SMART certified
Mercury, the primary ingredient in amalgam fillings, is a potent neurotoxin and studies show that mercury gas leaks out of amalgam fillings. While chewing, small bits of mercury can be swallowed and have a negative impact on the stomach and the rest of the digestive tract by changing the gut micro-biome.
Our office uses the SMART protocol to minimize mercury exposure to patients, staff as well as the environment. Dr Shoha is Accredited with The IAOMT, a certification granted after extensive study and research into mercury and its effects The office uses the latest, most effective tools to safely remove amalgam fillings, minimizing any potential for mercury exposure during the procedure. We have Amalgam separators in our office and dispose of mercury toxic waste using all safety precautions to protect our future generations.
We fully utilize the comprehensive SMART protocol, which includes:
Proper installation of an amalgam separator in order to fully collect mercury waste
Ensuring the procedure takes place in a high-volume air filtrated room that’s capable of removing all mercury vapors and filling particles
Using a pre-rinse and protection with a charcoal slurry.
Our staff utilize non-latex nitrile gloves, proper face shields, as well as properly sealed, respiratory grade masks designed specifically to capture mercury vapors
External air source/oxygen is delivered via nasal mask for our patients to ensure they don’t inhale any mercury vapors
Dental dams/isolators and saliva ejectors are placed in the patient’s mouth to further reduce mercury exposure
We utilize a special, high speed mercury vacuum as well as copious amounts of water
Mercury fillings are taken out in chunks with abundant ozone water irrigation

Advanced Technology
Dr. Sue Shoha and Dr. Pria Shoha are digital dentists and they employ technology which is safe, efficient and precise, in order to provide the best care for her patients. Digital x-rays are used which significantly minimize radiation to the patients.
Utilizing digital scanners and intra-oral cameras, we eliminate the messy impression material and get detailed images to share with the lab. They also allow for quicker impression taking and better fitting restorations.
There are 3 lasers at the practice, each with its own unique use. The Biolase laser is used mainly by the hygienist for gum tissue management and laser bacterial reduction.
The Fotona ATS lightwalker has multiple hard and soft tissue applications including Nightlase and facial esthetics. This laser is also used for Smilelase, Babylase and Oralase. Dr Shoha is one of only 35 practitioners worldwide licensed and authorized to provide this fascial release technology.
The Lightscalpel CO2 laser is mainly used for infant and adult frenectomies and functional frenuloplasties.

Ozone Therapy
Ozone or O3 is supersaturated oxygen and is a natural disinfecting agent. Medical grade Ozone is made in the office and it has the ability to safely disinfect tissue and encourage regeneration. Ozone therapy is one of the safest medical treatments known, without any adverse effects. Ozone therapy can be more effective than oral antibiotics and has the ability to halt decay, speed healing and reverse tooth damage.
Medical grade ozone is used to ozonate the water used in our brand new state of the art dental chairs and attached bottles to ensure only the purest, cleanest water being used during all dental procedures.

Root Canals and Dental Implants
Root canal therapy involves the evaluation of teeth requiring root canal treatment or retreatment of old failing root canal teeth. This is done on an individual basis after discussion of existing health conditions.
There has been a huge paradigm shift in the process and technology in the modern root canal procedure performed by a highly experienced and skilled specialist. If root canal therapy is indicated, patients are directed to Dr. Louis Shoha at Professional Endodontics. He has been serving the needs of patients for over 35 years and will perform a holistic root canal under a microscope using laser disinfection as well as ozone disinfection and will use biocompatible materials. Please call our office to discuss treatment options.
Implants:
Teeth can prematurely come out due to trauma or being fractured, diseased, or infected. This can change the teeth’s alignment and chewing system. Dental implants are the safest and most effective way to regain the mouth’s functionality. They can look and feel like the original tooth and provide bone health benefits and function just like natural teeth. We have a team who can place zirconia implants and both Dr. Sue Shoha and Dr. Pria Shoha can restore them with metal free crowns.
It is important to remember that contacting of upper and lower teeth throughout the day is critical for optimal brain function and cognition.
